Hollywood Elementary has a full time registered nurse to aid in keeping our students healthy. Nurse Briggs was a substitute nurse for SMCPS before deciding to pursue a full time position. She has her Bachelors in Nursing and a Masters in nursing education. Her medical background consists of Med/Surg pediatric nursing as well as experience as a Hospital Supervisor working in multiple units including the ER.
Nurse Briggs is a member of the American Nurses association and the Maryland Association of School Nurses. She is pursuing Board certification as a certified school nurse which she hopes to obtain in the near future.

Maryland law requires a physical examination completed by a physician or certified nurse practitioner nine months prior to or six months after entering a Maryland public school for the first time. Maryland law requires all public, Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade students to have a Maryland Blood Lead Testing Certificate.
